Baby Skeletor!

I went in for an ultrasound last week as a model for an ultrasound tech getting some experience for school and it was a blast. Justin and I got to see Baby Cook for almost a full 30 minutes which is way longer than the time we get at the regular doctor’s office. I had a little bit of Dr. Pepper that morning and the baby was tumbling and flipping like crazy. I even got to see a little judo kick and it waved at us!  Here is what we got to see.

Ultrasound 11.17.10b

I have a hard time seeing some of the stuff she pointed out to us in the pictures so just squint really hard and use your imagination. The ultrasound tech said if she had to guess, she’d say it was a girl, but it’s really too soon to tell.

I had my monthly checkup at the doctor’s office today and got a surprise ultrasound (they said they wouldn’t be doing another one until 20 weeks- which is a month away).

Ultrasound 11.23.10 b

The baby was stubborn like its mama because it sat perfectly cross-legged for the entire ultrasound. They still can’t confirm the sex , which is okay since Justin wasn’t there today. Its little heartbeat was coming in strong at 146 beats per minute and it is measuring just right.

He or she looks like a baby alien, huh?

Mooooo…

Here is the cowhide rug we bought. Sorry for the terrible BB picture!

Giddy Up

This past weekend, Justin and I traveled to the North Georgia mountains and somehow we ended up buying a cowhide rug. It looks very similar to this:

8946

I thought we could use it in our room under the bed, but it has ended up in the second bedroom/nursery-to-be. If you ask me, I am completely convinced this little one’s a boy, so I have Wyatt on the brain. We figured if we did a cowboy theme in the room, we could tie in the rug. Here is what I am thinking.

I have looked into little girls’ rooms. I love the pink and don’t even get me started on little pink cowgirl boots Smile

A baby update

Well, we announced our big news to the world, AKA Facebook, about two weeks ago and the response was overwhelming! This is just from my tiny little status update!

I have been so fortunate to not experience any traditional pregnancy symptoms like morning sickness, but I have discovered I now get carsick Sad smile The crazy mountain roads this past weekend demonstrated my new limitations and set me back a notch or two.

I quickly picked up a pair of Sea Bands and they seemed to help a little. I have been told it was okay to take Dramamine, but I didn’t want to get sleepy.

The other side effect of this pregnancy is that lately I have had some pretty awful headaches.

The nurses at the Dr.’s office told me that is was probably just my hormones going all wacky and that things should get better soon, but to keep monitoring the frequency and severity. Right now, they’re pretty tough dull throbbing headaches and are mostly just more annoying than anything. It did get kinda tough yesterday and I stayed home from work and didn’t move off the couch except to eat and go to the bathroom. I didn’t even change out of my pj’s!

All in all, everything is going great. I go back for a checkup in two weeks and will get to hear our little one’s heartbeat again. Let me tell you, that one never gets old!
