May the 4th

Capture

May the 4th is the big day: Wyatt is going to be born on May 4th by c-section unless he decides to try to come earlier. My doctor said those chances are slim to none  and the she was highly doubtful that even if he tries to come naturally that I will be able to have a natural/non c-section birth.

I have come to terms with this. I just want a happy, healthy baby boy. He’s my main focus right now!

The realization that this is my last full weekend pre-babies is pretty crazy!!! Justin and I are going to spend some QT hopefully just relaxing.

A boy with many hats

Wyatt is going to be one cute baby with these adorable hats his Aunt Amanda made. He has an owl and a sock monkey hat. I have tried and tried to learn how to crochet, but I never could grasp the concept, so I’m glad someone in the family can make this cute stuff!

How about this for a birthday present?

present-yellow-download

Today was my weekly checkup for Wyatt. I am 37 1/2 weeks along, so we have less than three weeks to go. After getting a growth scan to see how big he is, the ultrasound tech said her best estimate is that he is 7 pounds, 12 ounces. He can grow up to another pound in the next two weeks. Dr. Brickman checked me and there are very few changes otherwise. I am only 1 cm dilated.

There is concern that Wyatt is getting too big for my frame. Despite what it may look like from the outside, my generous “birthing hips” are not that big on the inside. Dr. Brickman discussed with me today that if I have not had him naturally by my checkup next Friday, I will probably go in on May 2 or 3 to determine if I need to be induced (if he’s still in a safe size range) or scheduled for a C-section (if he has gotten too big). If I have to have a C-section (which is and has always been my greatest fear by far) Wyatt and I will share the same birthday: May 6. Talk about a big 25th birthday present!

I really hope he makes his debut this week with no outside help, but I plan to start walking like crazy to maybe help things along. We shall see—either way, we’re having this chunky monkey in two weeks or less- ready or not!

Update on Wyatt

Last Thursday was my weekly appointment to be on the fetal monitor and little Wyatt was one active little boy. He must be gearing up for an athletic career because he didn’t stop moving and his heart rate was upwards of 190 beats per minute and he just wouldn’t slow sown for almost an hour!

My doctor wanted me to stay on the monitor for the next four hours to be sure there weren’t any further concerns, so it was across the road to the hospital for me. I called Justin and asked him to get the “go” bag ready and head to Tifton just in case.

I checked in around 6:15 and was told I’d be out of there by 10:00 if everything went well. The sweet nurses got me situated and started the monitor. Almost immediately, my stubborn little boy’s heart rate registered at a steady 130-140, which is normal. He hardly moved out of that range for almost two hours and Dr. Asbury decided it was safe for me to head on home and he wasn’t coming right then.

I don’t know what got him so riled up, but it had me worried for just a bit! I’m so glad everything worked out.

After being released, we went home and immediately packed Wyatt’s things and installed the car seat. I guess it’s better to be over-prepared then caught off guard like we almost were!

Work Baby Shower

Today, my wonderful coworkers hosted a luncheon in my honor at a local downtown restaurant. It was so simple and elegant at the same time! The food was amazing and the ambiance was so fun.

We have one spoiled little boy on our hands! Look at all the goodies he racked up. Actually, this is only a small portion of what I was given because I figured you didn’t need twenty of my best Vanna White poses Smile

Mrs. Desiree was able to make it and she got us a beautiful Willow Tree figurine called New Life.

My mama wasn’t able to be there because of a work conference, but she was kept in the loop with cell phone pictures. I am so thankful for the latest and greatest technology.

Future Footballer

I know that the five or six people that read our little baby blog have probably already seen this, but it just blows my mind that my son is INSIDE of me kicking like crazy and making that remote bounce. It is just crazy!

Sorry for my crazy pjs!

My bump, my bump…

Justin’s going to hate me for putting this out there for the whole world to know, but he does the sweetest things sometimes. Yesterday afternoon, I was taking a nap and when it was time for me to get up, he woke me up kissing all over my belly and started singing (to the tune of the Black Eyed Peas’ My Humps) "I love your bump, your bump, your lovely baby bump!”

I know Wyatt will grow up to be a great man someday if he follows in his daddy’s footsteps--I got the best one there is!
