Nursery Progress

When Justin first bought our house, this is what we were faced with in the guest room, which is now our little one’s nursery:

The walls were a non-offensive khaki color, but the carpet! Oh the carpet was just rough! That was the first thing to go before anything was moved into the house. We were so blessed to find beautiful hardwood floors that didn’t even need a thing done to them except to be mopped. Excuse the mess—we’re still painting trim on the doors and have yet to paint my closet door.

As we have begin preparations for the baby, we have painted, painted and painted some more with plenty more in store.

Notice the raw wood trim. I want to freshen up the house by painting all the wood trim crisp white. Painting window frames is like being in purgatory. You can see below that we haven’t done all of them yet.

The nursery got two coats of “Paper Sack” and the windows are set to be painted in the next few weeks.

When we get the walls and windows finished, I have to paint the old-but-new-to-the-nursery-dresser crisp white too.

More updates to come!

ANIMAL

I’ve been able to feel the baby move for a while now, but lately my little guy has decided to do his best Animal-playing-the-drums-on-my-internal-organs impression. It’s crazy. Maybe he’ll be a star football kicker when he grows up! There have been a few kicks that have literally stopped me in my tracks. I sure hope it’s not too long before Justin can feel him Smile

It’s a . . .

. . . BOY!
Its_A_Boy
We couldn’t be happier. The ultrasound tech told us last time we could have a little girl on our hands but to "not run out and buy pink just yet." I listened...and it's a good thing I did! Our little one was just a late bloomer.

Justin is going to be a great dad and I can only hope that our little boy turns out to be just as wonderful as he is.

Kids say the craziest things

I was talking with my nephews and my niece the other day about the baby and I asked them what they thought their names should be. Ben, the seven year old, said, “Wedding Bride.” He’s such a hoot. Jake, almost nine, said he likes Caroline or Carolina, which aren’t that bad. Caroline has been on my list for some time now.

The funniest reply came from Rivers, who’s four, when she said the baby’s name should be Olive. The best part was when she (very seriously) said, “It should be spelled D-O-R-L-Y and one number- the number 12!” She was so proud. So, if we get confirmation of our little one’s gender tomorrow, you might get to meet DORLY-number-12 in May!

Baby Morphing

Do you remember the scene on How To Lose a Guy In Ten Days where Kate Hudson morphs hers and Matthew Mcconaughey’s faces together to see what their family portraits would look like? Well, I ventured into the scary world of predicting what our baby will look like too. The results? I’ll let you decide:

Baby Cook

I’ve always said I hoped our babies had Justin’s blonde hair and blue eyes. All of the ones I did came out with enlarged foreheads…I’m thinking Justin’s hair is so light that the computer thinks it’s his forehead—or I have a big ol’ honkin noggin.

Just for kicks and sort of a control, I did a morph of my sister- and brother-in-law. Here is what the computer came up with:

Perry Baby

Not even close! Here is a shot of their three munchkins:

I guess we’ll be left hanging until May to see our precious little one!

Baby Bump

Here’s a quick shot I snapped on my phone this past Friday while trying on my very first maternity shirt! I don’t think there could be anyone more proud of a poking out belly than I am now!

Flutter, Flutter

I have started to feel the baby move more often. I’m sitting at work and I can feel it right now. It feels like a little muscle twitch or a butterfly flutter! I can’t wait for big time kicks and moves that everyone else can feel now!
