Yee Haw!

I mentioned earlier the bedding set my parents bough for Wyatt’s nursery. It came in this week and I have been so excited to get it put in the nursery. I still haven’t hung the curtains and a few other items, but I am more than pleased with how awesome this set is. (P.S. They got a great deal from an awesome eBay seller: laurenstyle2388) The quality is great and it was brand new at 1/3 the price of the manufacturer’s site!

The little stick horse propped up in the corner was a gift from my aunt and uncle. We’re going to have one spoiled little boy!

Baby Updates

It’s been a little while since I’ve posted an update on . . .

That’s right! We decided on Wyatt for our little one! We have always liked the name and it just seems like a pretty good fit—if he’s anything like the two of us that is! His middle name will be shared with both his daddy and Justin’s dad.

A few weeks ago at my monthly checkup, the ultrasound tech noticed some fluid on Wyatt’s kidneys and my doctor sent me to a specialist to get it checked out. She didn’t seem too concerned; about 1 in 5 patients with male babies has this done. I was able to see the specialist yesterday and he told me the fluid is in the upper limits of the normal range, but it’s still acceptable. I have a follow up in six weeks to be double checked. That was a relief! We got this great little profile shot of his face—I don’t know what’s up with that crazy shadow in the center though.

A great friend of mine sent me a link to an eBay seller that had the greatest nursery décor. I picked out this set and my sweet parents have offered to buy it for us.

And FINALLY!!! Justin was finally able to feel Wyatt kick last night. I have to admit I cried just a bit. I told him, “That’s your son.” I think it really hit us that we’re going to be parents in just three short months. It was a super awesome experience! I’ve been able to feel him for a while now, but it was 1,000 times better that Justin could.

Nursery Redo, part 2

Justin and I have busted our butts this weekend to make a little more progress on the nursery. For the record, I STILL hate painting trim and windows, but it makes a HUGE difference in the room. We got almost all of the trim finished up, with the exception of the ceiling trim where we got a little roller happy and got brown paint up there.

We also made a big transformation with the big wooden dressers that we had. These beauties were left in the house when we moved in and the quality just can’t be beat! They have dovetail joints and everything. Unfortunately, the wood was just too much with the paint color and the wood floors so they got a nice new coat of crisp white and the hardware got a shiny new coat of silver for a swanky update.

They really turned out great. We have looks-like-new furniture with the same great quality from the way furniture used to be made. The whole upgrade cost us about $5 in paint for both dressers and $5 in spray paint for the hardware (which we’re still using on just about every piece of hardware, doorknob, and old brass we can find in the house.

And because I was doing fifty things at once, I took a “before” pic of the vertical dresser and an “after” pic of the horizontal one, but I think you might get the overall effect!

Baby Loot

I forgot to mention our GORGEOUS crib! It is one of those awesome convertible cribs that can be used all the way up to a double bed.

A lady that goes to church with Justin’s mama and daddy SO graciously gave it to us! She sent along the mattress and all of the bedding as well.

Better yet? She sent over nine bags of clothes and shoes too. Hear me?

NINE!

I sorted through them on Saturday and WOW! We probably won’t have to buy clothes for our little man until he’s at least two or three.

It’s not too pretty, but everything is sorted by sizes and I’m getting ready to put the bigger stuff into storage until we need it.

We’re really thankful to have such great people that are willing to help us welcome our little one into the world and we hope we can pass on the love to some of our friends or others who need it when he grows out of all of this!

Nursery Progress

When Justin first bought our house, this is what we were faced with in the guest room, which is now our little one’s nursery:

 

The walls were a non-offensive khaki color, but the carpet! Oh the carpet was just rough! That was the first thing to go before anything was moved into the house. We were so blessed to find beautiful hardwood floors that didn’t even need a thing done to them except to be mopped. Excuse the mess—we’re still painting trim on the doors and have yet to paint my closet door.

 

As we have begin preparations for the baby, we have painted, painted and painted some more with plenty more in store.

Notice the raw wood trim. I want to freshen up the house by painting all the wood trim crisp white. Painting window frames is like being in purgatory. You can see below that we haven’t done all of them yet.

  

The nursery got two coats of “Paper Sack” and the windows are set to be painted in the next few weeks.

When we get the walls and windows finished, I have to paint the old-but-new-to-the-nursery-dresser crisp white too.

ANIMAL

I’ve been able to feel the baby move for a while now, but lately my little guy has decided to do his best Animal-playing-the-drums-on-my-internal-organs impression. It’s crazy. Maybe he’ll be a star football kicker when he grows up! There have been a few kicks that have literally stopped me in my tracks. I sure hope it’s not too long before Justin can feel him

It’s a . . .

. . . BOY!

We couldn’t be happier. The ultrasound tech told us last time we could have a little girl on our hands but to "not run out and buy pink just yet." I listened...and it's a good thing I did! Our little one was just a late bloomer.

Justin is going to be a great dad and I can only hope that our little boy turns out to be just as wonderful as he is.
